Experience is considered as a corporate asset. Experience management systems (EMSs) are a means to capture and disseminate experiences. Since experiences are made in day-to-day work, maintenance becomes essential for experience bases. This work presents a set of models for developing maintainable EMSs. In nine projects, systems developed with this concept and these models have shown their acceptance in practice. Furthermore, a case study shows that the models can speed up the requirements analysis and design process for EMSs by a factor greater 11 for EMS developers with some experience
