This report gives an introduction to the State of the Art of Software Reliability Prediction. It starts with a description of a general modelling approach, gives details on a family of Software Reliability Growth Models called nonhomogeneous poisson process models. It further explores quantitative measures to evaluate the prediction quality of models and the application procedures. The last chapters give insight into conducted empirical studies to validate the theoretical models and states open problems mentioned in literature on the subject
