Recognition of Cultural and Religious Diversity in the Educational Systems of Liberal Democracies Guy BOURGEAULT, France GAGNON, Marie Mc ANDREW, Michel PAGE This article explores, through an examination of the current debate within political philosophy and ethics, the complex issue which public institutions face when confronted with a growing number of demands that cultural and religious diversity should be taken into account. The authors begin with an analysis of the principles underlying the role of the State in respect to diversity and their limitations.
