The valorization by producing countries of their gaseous hydrocarbon resources (natural gas and petroleum gas) is taking increasingly greater importance. This article analyses the notion of gas rent, and proposes its use, jointly with that of oil rent, as management tool of petroleum resources. The process which connects gas rent to the price of crude oil is described in so far as it concerns natural gas which is situated in the area formed by Iran and the arab countries.
