Equipment used in cleanrooms has to be designed in such a way so as to minimise particulate emission from them. Particle emission can be especially reduced by selecting suitable materials for components which rub against one another. However, up till now there have been no substantiated lists of suitable materials available. A solution has now been found to the problem by the Fraunhofer IPA which has developed a standardized procedure for assessing particle emissions from material pairings during tribological stress
