Journals on the multimedia have spread extensively onto CD-Rom and the Web. A study from 1994 to 1998 has revealed the modalities of this new diversification of the press. After some original experiments combining multi-modality, interactivity and hypertextuality, electronic extensions of publications are progressively converging towards service dimensions complementary to printed information. It emerges that apart from the generalization of hypertext links, there is nothing particularly original about this configuration which can be compared to the previous telematic experiment.
