This paper discusses conditional access (CA) digital TV systems, using cable networks analogous to cable TV. A block diagram of a conditional access DVB system is presented, and safety mechanisms are discussed. The system is described using "smart cards", and refers to access rights and identification decoding. The paper also shows a baseline privacy interface (BPI). The current work on the integration of existing cable networks is described, and the paper refers to a commercial DVB module
