Koskinen (Seppo), Martelin (Tuija). - Why is Differential Mortality among Women Lower than among Men? An Analysis of Finnish Data. Socio-economic differentials in mortality are greater for women than for men. We investigate the extent to which this assertion depends on (1) the type of indices used to measure socio-economic status; (2) other socio-demographic variables that hide inequalities among women, whilst stressing those for men and (3) differences in the structure of cause- specific mortality.
