INED has carried out two retrospective surveys : (a) national, on the migration, occupational and family histories of the cohorts born between 1911 and 1935 (survey 3B) and (b) local, on the Paris Region for cohorts born between 1926 and 1935 (PDP survey). We have thought it worthwhile to supplement the migration statistics taken from such studies, to draw up a residential balance sheet of a cohort and to assess the impact of Paris on the process of migration through studies based on a group of individuals.
