Paleodemographie analyses of the two largest funerary areas of Mehrgarh (Baluchistan, Pakistan) are presented with a view relevant to an archaeological perspective. As a matter of fact, if our methods can produce but a faint picture (not to say questionable) which does not accurately reflect the demographic structure, they nevertheless allow to propose and assess new hypotheses about funerary practices and socio-economic status of populations. Skeletal samples concern the Neolithic cemetery (period IB from Mehrgarh, site MR3, around 6 000 B.C.) and the Chalcolithic one (period IIIB, site MR2, around 4 200 B.C.).
