The emergence, at the end of the 4th millennium, and the development of ceramic production in Oman, until I 300 B.C., as well as exchange patterns in Middle Asia and their evolution, are showed through the study of pottery vases from about thirty sites located in the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, and compared with others from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan. Stylistical and technological relationships as well as finished products movements are identified through the petrographical and chemical characterization of fabrics, combined with the data issued from the study of the chronological and spatial context, and the typological analysis of shapes and decoration of the vases.
