L'Architecture mésopotamienne du 7e au 4e millénaire

After defining the distinctive architectural remains left by the three major Mesopotamian cultures from the 7th to the 4th millennia B.C. (Halaf, Samarra and Obeid), the distribution of these different architectural types throughout Mesopotamia is considered in light of recent discoveries, particularly in the Hamrin region. Architecture, when considered as a « type-fossil » reflecting the specificity of each culture, helps to better understand the role of Mesopotamia in Near Eastern history at the threshold of the « Urban Revolution ».Après avoir défini la spécificité de l'architecture laissée par les trois grandes civilisations mésopotamiennes du 7e au 4e millénaires B.C. (Halaf, Samarra et Obeid), on montre la répartition des types en Mésopotamie à la lumière des dernières découvertes, notamment dans la région de Hamrin. Le rôle de l'architecture en tant que fossile-directeur rendant compte de l'originalité d'une civilisation permet de mieux comprendre la place de la Mésopotamie dans l'histoire du Proche-Orient à la veille de la « révolution urbaine ».Aurenche Olivier.
