Fall detection (of humans) still constitutes an unresolved problem. The literature proposes several fall detection systems. These systems measure and evaluate various sensor modalities, some systems are able to signal the begin of a fall. Other systems detect some long-term changes in the sensory-motor patterns and forecast a tendency for falls for the near future. However, due to their weight, usage, operation, size, etc., these systems receive significant acceptance problems. As an alternative, this paper proposes a new, very small, light-weight, and energy-efficient system that reliably detects falls by fusing acceleration and air-pressure sensors
