In order to qualify products with regard to the demands placed on them by environment-specific particular materials, the property profile of the dusts present in the product's surroundings must be known. On the basis of this profile, the effects of the particles on the product-for example on equipment, devices, casings, filters etc. or on constructions must be investigated, both on the macroscopic level and in terms of microprocesses. This knowledge is essential for the property-effect relationship to be formulated with sufficient accuracy and reliability.
