The possibility of using fiber Bragg gratings in high dose environments is examined. To do this, fiber Bragg gratings were manufactured and irradiated with variation of the following parameters: fiber type, hydrogen content, intensity of writing laser, and temperature during the stabilization of the gratings. Furthermore a test at the FLASH facility at the DESY was done
