Strategy execution through enterprise architecture : capabilitybased management as a foundation for successful (digital) transformations

One of the most considerable challenges organizations face is to remain relevantin a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world where the paceof technological and economic change is particularly high. Consequently, swifttechnology adoption has recently become increasingly important to stay relevantas an organization. The focus of related transformations has thus gained asignificant digital component, further adding to the complexity of realizing asuccessful (digital) transformation. Due to this complexity, organizationsstruggle with their digital transformations in practice, mainly due to a lack ofperspective and common language. This research explores how EnterpriseArchitecture and Capability-Based Management can provide solutions for theseproblems. In particular, this research project aims to define a framework thatcontains methods and other artifacts for capability-based management thatorganizations (and their managers, architects, analysts) can apply in practice. Theresearch additionally focuses on the design of specific artifacts within thisframework.
