The concept of "Ambient Assisted Living" (AAL) has become a relevant factor in the research landscape over the last couple of years. A multitude of national and international R&D projects is working on specific challenges and fields of application within the thematic area of AAL. However, the goal of a realization of the AAL vision is impeded by a number of obstacles and problems, for which this article discusses possible resorts and approaches and finally derives recommendations for effective actions
