Innovative technologies offer answers to the pressing challenges of our time. Mobility, energy supply and information technologies require raw materials and new materials which have not been in the focus up to now. Hence, for the development of sustainable solutions it is necessary to think beyond the limited field of new technologies and also to analyze the conditions and consequences of these new technologies. The expected market growth in electric vehicles will affect the demand of the necessary raw materials such as lithium. Therefore, it is important to examine the supply of other raw materials for the electrical mobility. These include cobalt for batteries, copper for the windings in electric motors, and neodymium for use in magnets in electric motors. The paper shows the development of the requirements and possible bottlenecks of important raw materials for the electrical mobility and the strategies that become necessary to deal with this challlenge
