This article comments two paintings by Jacob Jordaens, now in the Antwerp and Brussels museums of fine arts, representing the holy Yves, patron saint of jurists and law practitioners. By comparing the iconography to several other representations of the same saint, and by investigating the history of the paintings’ ownership, the conclusion is drawn that, very probably, the works of Jordaens were ordered by the board of the Antwerp Saint Yves Guild of law practitioners, or by one of its members.This article comments two paintings by Jacob Jordaens, now in the Antwerp and Brussels museums of fine arts, representing the holy Yves, patron saint of jurists and law practitioners.
