This article deals with meteorological fluctuations, especially in spring and summer temperatures in the sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as these are revealed by the quantitative and serial history of the vine harvest dates. The major portion of the data collected by the authors comes from the vineyards of the northeast region of France's wine-growing area. Extremely high correlations are observed with the series of temperatures recorded by the Observatory of Paris, notably in the nineteenth century.
