The automotive sector requires ever higher availability, accuracy and reliability from the position solution. The demands of novel and innovative driver assistance systems can not be completely fulfilled, at an acceptable price, by current GNSS receivers. There is a need for a cost effective receiver so that driving assistance systems can be realised. In such applications a receiver has to deliver reliable and continuous position information even under difficult reception conditions.
