Globalization : the True Fracture of the 20th Century, by Pierre Jacquet and Frédérique Sachwald Late 20th-century economic globalization differs from internationalization the previous century in terms of both its intensity and its complexity. The shock caused to late 19th-century economies by the convergence of prices and wages triggered withdrawal reactions well before 1914. The paper explains why contemporary opposition to globalization took longer to emerge.
