This paper presents the capabilities of piezo-based parallel kinematics for a high dynamic positioning of the cutting edge. The integration of redundant or additional axes by means of piezo actuators allows manufactures and users to extent existing machine tools and to develop new manufacturing technologies. Using results of practical tests, the functionality of an existing kinematic is verified. The results of previous examinations are being used to develop and integrate a new system for an existing machine tool. A short outline of the component´s design, development and construction is shown. Finally, some control approaches and first results of the machine tool with piezo system are revealed
