A Crisis in the Making ? Macedonia and its Neighbours, by Duncan M. Perry Macedonian foreign policy is inextricably mixed up with internal political, économie and social problems which force it to search for international security guarantees. Macedonia thus follows a pragmatic foreign policy, aiming to protect its frontiers and to favour its economie prosperity. It seeks wider international recognition not only to increase its security but also to affirm its new existence as state and nation thereby reinforcing internai national cohesion. Finally however, Greek intransigence over its name, added to the UN embargo of rump Yugoslavia and internal ethnie tensions in Macedonia, could get the better of the new State.La politique étrangère de la Macédoine est entremêlée de façon inextricable de problèmes internes, politiques, économiques et sociaux. Ceux-ci la poussent en quête de garanties internationales pour sa sécurité. La Macédoine poursuit donc un programme pragmatique visant à protéger ses frontières et favoriser sa prospérité économique. Elle cherche également à obtenir une reconnaissance internationale plus grande tant pour améliorer sa sécurité que pour affirmer l'existence de son nouvel Etat et de sa nation et, ainsi, renforcer la cohésion nationale au sein de la société. Mais, en fin de compte, l'intransigeance grecque sur la question du nom, à laquelle s'ajoutent l'embargo des Nations Unies contre la petite Yougoslavie et les tensions ethniques internes en Macédoine, pourrait avoir raison du nouvel Etat.Perry Duncan M., Saint Georges Chaumet Maureen.
