"This book has its origins in the international workshop Burial and Social Change in Ancient Italy, Ninth-Fifth Century BC : Approaching Social Agents, held at the British School at Rome on 7-8 June 2011. The aim of the workshop was to bring together a range of both early career and more senior scholars working on ancient Italy to discuss new approaches to archaeological mortuary evidence, and construct innovative frameworks for investigating social complexity. Another aim was to gather speakers working on pre-Roman Italy either in Italy itself or in Anglophone countries in order to foster collaborations and dialogue between researchers educated in different scholarly traditions"--Preface.Includes bibliographical references and index.Introd...
