A few thousand personalities from Belgian universities and human rights leagues have called for solidarity with and a more humane treatment of migrants and refugees. I briefly indicate what is needed at short term to welcome them: housing, education and work. Safe emergency dwellings can be constructed with modern techniques in one day, spread in municipalities and cities over the country. Schools need more classrooms and more teachers. Lessons and handbooks should be adapted to a few foreign languages, in particular for teaching to adults. Work can start before thorough knowledge of Dutch is mastered.
