An interactive platform for collaborative storytelling - The storybroad system

Drawing inspiration for writing good stories has always been a common problem among authors. In this thesis we will design, implement and evaluate a platform which aims to help authors or group of authors in the difficult process of writing creative and interesting plots. The concept on which the whole system is based is the one of nonlinear history: starting from a root node, which is the beginning of the story, the plot develops in many directions forming a treelike structure. Each child in the tree represents a different evolution of the situation reached in the parent node. Users can always add a new child at any level in the story, creating ideally all possible continuations to the story. At this point, the administrators are able to select, according to users comments and votes, th e most promising paths that traverse the tree obtaining in this way a plot that could potentially interest many users. The evaluation of the implemented platform shows that the users are interested in using such a system and that the concept of storytree is easy to learn and to be used
