Avaliação em Larga Escala, o senso comum, críticas e ponderações

After the promulgation of the 1988 Constitution, there was a great movement towards the advancement of social rights in Brazil, therefore, the process of approving laws aimed at education intensified, as well as its effects. Given this, there has been a growing implementation of actions to overcome serious educational deficiencies in Brazil, among them, the search for quality indicators through large-scale evaluations. Made in several segments, the evaluations were nationally known by the general public, but are they well understood by educators? To answer this question, we raise some possible views that compose common sense in relation to evaluations, and then confront them with real data. In the sequence we analyze the visions pointed out as negative, and for each one of them we made ponderings to understand in what scope they are situated with the objective of questioning them. We conclude by emphasizing that large-scale evaluation is a matter for specialized professionals but affirming that their concepts and information should reach educators, otherwise they will not use the results to improve pedagogical practice. We also show that while we believe that the focus of large-scale assessments is correctly directed at reading and mathematics, due to the low proficiency of Brazilian students, it is also necessary to invest in teacher training so that they are qualified for the omnilateral teaching.Após a promulgação da Constituição de 1988, houve grande movimento em direção ao avanço dos direitos sociais no Brasil, portanto, o processo de aprovação de leis direcionadas à educação intensificou-se, bem como seus efeitos. Diante disso, houve uma crescente implantação de ações para superação das graves deficiências educacionais no Brasil, entre elas, a busca de indicadores da qualidade por meio de avaliações em larga escala. Realizadas em diversos segmentos, as avaliações ficaram nacionalmente conhecidas pelo público em geral, mas será que elas são bem compreendidas pelos educadores? Para responder esta questão levantamos algumas possíveis visões que compõe o senso comum em relação às avaliações, para depois confrontá-las com dados reais. Na sequência analisamos as visões apontadas como negativas, e para cada uma delas fizemos ponderações para entender em que âmbito elas se situam com o objetivo de questioná-las. Concluímos ressaltando que avaliação em larga escala é assunto para profissionais especializados, mas afirmando que seus conceitos e informações devem obrigatoriamente chegar até os educadores, sob pena de não se aproveitar os resultados para a melhoria da prática pedagógica. Também mostramos que, apesar de acreditarmos que o foco das avaliações em larga escala esteja corretamente direcionado à leitura e à matemática, devido à baixa proficiência dos estudantes brasileiros, também é necessário investir na formação de professores para que eles sejam qualificados para o ensino omnilateral
