The article presents a group of 26 litteratorum (clerics with university education) involved between 1314 and 1323 in the activities of the monarch’s chancellery of Vladislaus the Short, and diplomacy and in the Polish-Teutonic trial. The author has established that the group included 7 chancellors and sub-chancellors and 19 other clergymen serving in diplomacy and actively participating in the Polish-Teutonic trial. 15 persons boasted education in canon law; the degree of Master of Arts was held by 9 persons and 1 person was a Doctor of Decrees. The litterati in monarchical service came from all parts of the Kingdom of Poland, mainly from Lesser Poland and Greater Poland. They have been credited with improving the work of the chancellery ...
