Summary : Logic of action : The development of action rules in children. Two experiments were conducted to study the development of action rules in children. In the first experiment, 58 4-9-year-old children were presented with an engineering problem (building a small ladder and a small footbridge) and, in the other one, 110 3-9 year-olds were presented with a logico-mathematical problem (forming a checkerboard with black and white cubes). Each experiment was conducted both from a macro-genetic point of view (studying the evolution with age of the knowledge used by children to solve the problem) and from a micro-genetic point of view (studying the evolution of knowledge with practice).
