Summary : The development of categorizations : logical or ecological « capture » of the properties of objects ? The categorization of objects of the real world can be considered as a bargaining process, for the purpose of adaptation, between the structures of the subject and those of the environment. For several decades, the development of this complex adaptative behavior has been studied with reference to the operating theory of Jean Piaget. This theory assimilates the processes of categorization to logical processes of classification, which result frorn the actions and operations of the subject.
