Summary Analysis of response times shows the importance of the maintenance of verbal response schemata in the immediate reporting of series of words. In this experiment, subjects must immediately report ail the words of a series after it has been visually presented word by word. The number of words in each series varies systematically from one word to eight wordst changing every fourth series. When the number of words to be recalled increases, the response time increases, reaching a limit for series of six words. If we observe only the number of reported words, the response time increases up to the correct report of four words, becoming stable when the number of word responses increases beyond this.
