Summary The main goal of the experiment was to evaluate the generality and the intra-individual stability of the « feeling of knowing » compared wiih the actual knowledge, in a task where the presentation of the material depends upon subjects' decisions. 4 series of 16 adjectwes were presented to the 18 Ss on an alphanumeric display terminal connected to a computer. Ss may study each item of a list, either one by one or in chunks, and as long as they wished. Ss were told to stop studying when they thought they perfectly knew the whole series. An overestimation of the actual knowledge was once again observed.
