The learning of a list of 20 significant words, in 20 trials, through the free recall method has been done in 4 situations differing by the speed of succession of the presented stimuli. Results are as follows : 1) The time of work of the subjects is defined as the sum of presentation times and of times of stimuli reproduction. Here it appears to be a fundamental factor of learning. The increase of correct responses only depends on the number of trials of presentation and of reproduction, at the beginning of the attainment process. After about the 5th trial the number of trials no longer intervenes, and the time of work alone seems to play a part.
