Exploring South Asian Muslim women\u27s lived experiences and perceptions of divorce.

Divorce is a reality for many American Muslim families, yet it is still considered taboo in the American Muslim community. Due to the lack of data on divorce in Muslim communities, the conversations on this topic are missing empirical research. Despite marriage being a well-researched topic, some populations have significant gaps in divorce literature for Muslim Americans. This qualitative study explores South Asian Muslim women\u27s lived experiences and perceptions of divorce within their sociocultural context. The study will add to the literature on divorce in the South Asian Muslim community in the US. Data will be gathered from semi-structured interviews and then analyzed for themes around participants\u27 expectations of divorce, their lived experiences after divorce, coping skills, and their perceptions of the stigma around divorce.
