The Guerrero family kept a prebend in the chapter of the cathedral of Murcia for one hundred and fifty years without interruption. Native to the village of Hellin, this presence has to be seen as the result of family strategies that that pursuing the installation of this lineage between the local elite. This paper will explore what meant for the Guerrero family having a relative who was a prebendary; it will confirm that his intervention and assistance were essential to build and consolidate the process of social ascent.Una única familia, los Guerrero, mantendrá una prebenda en el cabildo de la catedral de Murcia durante ciento cincuenta años de forma ininterrumpida. Originarios de la villa de Hellín, esta presencia ha de contemplarse como el resultado de unas estrategias familiares que perseguían la instalación de este linaje entre la élite local. Lo que se pretende estudiar es qué supuso para la familia Guerrero contar con un pariente prebendado; se comprobará que su intervención y ayuda resultarán fundamentales para cimentar y consolidar el proceso de ascenso social
