Abstract The African Museum's Public: Visitors at the 'Vallées du Niger" Exhibition in Conakry (Guinea). — From January 1994 to March 1998, "Niger Valleys", an archeology exhibition, ran in six African countries. The objectives of those who designed the show are presented, along with the methods used to gather information about its impact on African visitors. The results obtained in Guinea are used as an example: the high attendance by Guinean visitors; the elitist nature of these visitors; general satisfaction with the show as a whole (concepts and works presented), the genuine interest shown in archeological vestiges; the repeated desire to have other exhibitions organized at the National Museum; the educational and "edifying" nature of s...
