Background/Objective: Primary objective of this study was to characterize the pharmacokinetics of tiotropium Respimat® 5g (R5) in comparison with tiotropium HandiHaler® 18g (HH18). Secondary objective was to assess the dose-dependency of bronchodilator effi cacy (FEV1, FVC) by including 2 lower tiotropium Respimat® doses (1.25g and 2.5g) and placebo. Methods: Multicentre, placebo-controlled, randomised, double-blind (within Respimat® device), 5-way crossover trial with 4-week treatment periods in 154 patients.
