Organic photovoltaics (OPV) technology has emerged as an alternative to meet the needs of the energy industry in the future. Many fundamental and technology-related problems needed to be solved after the development of the first organic solar cells (OSCs). Organic materials with a high purity grade were necessary leading to the development of new syntheses routes with less reactive by-products, due to the complex architectural structure of organic electronics and their sensitivity to defect sites.
