Designing power electronics is an interdisciplinary task. In this paper a 15 kW solar inverter is used as demonstrator to evaluate the help of simulation tools during the design process.The optimization of the inverter is described using and modifying the simulation tools together with the tool suppliers. The results are proved by measurements
