The paper offers some considerations on the relationship between university internationalisation and development cooperation on the basis of the preliminary findings of a research on students‟ mobility in the Global South implemented by the University of Turin in partnership with Italian NGOs. During these experiences students uses technical knowledge acquired through higher education and develop competences to work in multicultural and complex environments. This complementarity points at the need for universities to internationalise in partnership with other actors
