1922-2022: COMO PENSAR AS PRÁTICAS DO TURISMO A PARTIR DO DESAPARECIMENTO DO BAIRRO DA MISERICÓRDIA NO RIO DE JANEIRO?

The article discusses the International Exhibition of the Centennial of the Independence of Brazil and its relationship with the Misericórdia neighborhood, located in the central area of ​​Rio de Janeiro. It contextualizes the region based on historical references and the architectural and urban impacts resulting from the event. It analyzes the possibilities of tourism in the region, nowadays, from the remaining architectural constructions and the urban parks that were constituted in the different temporalities. The objective is to establish historical, architectural, urban and landscape connections of the Misericórdia neighborhood with tourism practices. The study is exploratory, descriptive, carried out from a literature review and production of maps with free software. Tourism in the central area of ​​the city can explore references to the centenary of the International Exhibition of the Centenary of the Independence of Brazil, which took place between 1922 and 1923.O artigo aborda sobre a Exposição Internacional do Centenário da Independência do Brasil e sua relação com o bairro da Misericórdia, localizado na área central do Rio de Janeiro. Contextualiza a região a partir de referências históricas e dos impactos arquitetônicos e urbanísticos em decorrência do evento. Analisa as possibilidades de turismo na região, na atualidade, a partir das construções arquitetônicas remanescentes e dos parques urbanos que foram se constituindo nas diferentes temporalidades. O objetivo é estabelecer conexões históricas, arquitetônicas, urbanísticas e paisagísticas do bairro da Misericórdia com práticas de turismo. O estudo é exploratório, descritivo, realizado a partir de revisão bibliográfica e produção de mapas com software livre. O turismo na área central da cidade pode explorar as referências ao centenário da Exposição Internacional do Centenário da Independência do Brasil, ocorrida entre os anos de 1922 e 1923
