Tropical peatlands are globally important ecosystems for carbon storage, biodiversity conservation, water storage and regulation, and several other valuable ecosystem services. Despite their importance, peatlands in Southeast Asia have been heavily degraded by anthropogenic disturbances such as drainage, agricultural conversion, and fire.
