With the advent of multi-PW lasers, it becomes possible to create particle beams with intensity never reached before. Indeed, at such high laser intensity, laser-matter interaction allows to produce proton beams with energy as high as several tens of MeV, maybe hundreds of MeV in the next years. Such proton beam can then either be used directly for scientific purposes or a part of it can be converted into a neutron beam using the right kind of converter.
