International audienceObjective Mutations in superoxide dismutase 1 gene ( SOD1) , encoding copper/zinc superoxide dismutase protein, are the second most frequent high penetrant genetic cause for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) motor neuron disease in populations of European descent.
