This thesis work concerns an optical gyroscope based on a passive resonant cavity made of an optical fiber. This type of gyroscope uses the Sagnac effect to measure the angular velocity by comparing the resonant frequencies of two counter-propagating beams in the cavity. We expose the development and the design of the several prototypes of cavities made of a conventional PM-SMF or a Photonic Bandgap hollow-core fiber coiled on a diameter of 8cm. The characterization of the prototypes allowed us to identify problems of contamination and wavelength dependence of the hollow core fiber transmission.
