Microextrusion is an additive manufacturing technique for complex shaped objects. After extrusion of a ceramic paste, drying involves dimensional shrinkage that can be the cause of defects such as deformations or cracks. A finite element multiphysics model of drying taking into account shrinkage has been developed to predict the behaviour of the ceramic product. Optical methods for monitoring shrinkage have been developed, making it possible to study the drying of products obtained by microextrusion at different scales (from an extruded cord to the scale of a full product). Anisotropy of drying shrinkage in products has been demonstrated, and several causes have been identified. Finally, a real-time shrinkage monitoring method has been prop...
