Deforestación en Madre de Dios: Un infierno para la biodiversidad

One of the most serious problems in the Peruvian Amazon is deforestation, which has its greatest expression in the region of Madre de Dios. For this reason, the objective of this article is to report on the impact caused by deforestation in Madre de Dios on biodiversity, which comprise enlightening the loss of forests due to mining and agriculture, and the diminution of mammal and bird species. A qualitative methodology has been used, for this, a systematic review was made, and existing research studies were analyzed, with which statistical data regarding the progression of deforestation in Madre de Dios from 2002-2021 and the current conservation status of mammal and bird species were finally obtained. All of the above evidence a significant increase in deforestation between 1999-2021. Likewise, a negative impact on biodiversity, specifically birds and mammals. For all these reasons, this environmental problem must be addressed, as well as the importance of developing sustainable mining and agriculture and therefore mitigate the environmental impacts generated in the Amazon.Uno de los problemas más graves en la Amazonía peruana es la deforestación, que tiene su mayor expresión en el departamento de Madre de Dios, razón por la cual, el objetivo de este artículo es informar sobre el impacto que causa la deforestación en la biodiversidad de este departamento. Debido a la minería y a la agricultura se ha perdido el bosque en esta zona, se han reducido las especies de mamíferos y aves. En esta investigación, se utilizó una metodología de tipo cualitativa. Se hizo una revisión sistemática y se analizaron estudios de investigaciones ya existentes, con lo que finalmente se obtuvieron datos estadísticos sobre la progresión de la deforestación en Madre de Dios del 2002-2021 y el estado de conservación actual de mamíferos y aves. Como resultado, se evidencia un aumento significativo de la deforestación entre 1999-2021. Asimismo, hay un impacto negativo en la biodiversidad, específicamente en aves y mamíferos. Es un problema que se debe solucionar, impulsar una minería y agricultura sostenible es el camino para mitigar los impactos ambientales en la Amazonía
