Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most common bacterial pathogen infecting the lungs of patients withcystic fibrosis (CF). The Liverpool Epidemic Strain (LES) is transmissible, capable of superseding other P. aeruginosapopulations and is associated with increased morbidity.
