Exploring migrant workers motivations for migrationand their perceived contributions to the UK : A case study of Liverpool

This report presents the findings of research focusing on the experiences of migrantworkers. In particular it explores what motivates people to come to the UK, whataffects people’s decisions to stay or leave, and how these change over time, as wellas looking at what migrants perceive their contribution to be to the UK. The researchwas commissioned by Migrant Workers North West in May 2009 and conducted byresearchers from the Salford Housing & Urban Studies Unit (SHUSU) at theUniversity of Salford and Merseyside Social Inclusion Observatory (MSIO) at theUniversity of Liverpool.
